My Offer
A pragmatic approach to your research needs ....
With a clear focus on social research and evaluation, I offer over ten years of experience in both the public and private sectors, gained by working on a broad range of contracts throughout Devon and Cornwall. My background is social research, with secure knowledge and skills gained through a BSc in Criminology and an MSc in Social Research and Evaluation, passed with Distinction.
My work portfolio includes the evaluation of numerous European Social Funded (ESF and ERDF) projects as well as assignments commissioned by third sector organisations including community development projects.
The majority of this work was undertaken during my employment with SBD Associates, a well-respected Business Development consultancy based in South East Cornwall. Click here for a full list of assignments. My role also included research and event planning services to the Cornwall Manufacturers Group
I have gained experience of delivering evaluation and research services within the cultural sector whilst working as an associate with Christina Dixon Consulting. Our clients include Royal Albert Memorial Museum; Plymouth City Museum and Art Gallery; Dartington Hall Estate and Theatre Royal Plymouth. My input has ranged from desk research to support feasibility studies, to evaluation design and delivery as part of the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery funding processes.
As an associate I provide ad-hoc evaluation and research support to PFA Research
My Work
Current and recent projects include ....
Tri Service Safety Officer
Evaluation of an innovative role in Cornwall whereby an on-call firefighter also takes on the roles of a first responder for the South Western Ambulance NHS Foundation Trust, an Anti-social Behaviour Caseworker for Cornwall Council and holds limited police powers through the Community Safety Accredited Scheme. The evaluation consists of both qualitative and quantitative methods to help inform any future extension or replication of the prevention-focused role.
Walking with Cameras and Chasing the Light
Chasing the Light and Walking with Cameras is a three-year Big Lottery funded project in Exeter delivered by Meridian Raw that will provide nine 14 week participatory photography programmes and 72 photo walk trips. It aims to bring people together, empowering those who experience poor mental health, improving health and wellbeing, and creating a platform for future business development. Munro Research and Evaluation are partnering with Christina Dixon Consulting to deliver interim and final evaluations.
999 Academy
Impact evaluation of the 999 Academy. The academy is a youth development programme which is a collaboration between emergency services and further education providers. It aims to develop participant skills and confidence, engage them in social action and increase their understanding of the work of the emergency services. The evaluation used a mixed method approach to assess the impact it has on participants, stakeholder partners and communities.
South West Emergency Services Collaboration
I have recently completed analysis of Regional Collaboration Agreements to identify financial benefits of process and outcomes and wider society outcomes and values.
